Scheduling problems have meant that the match between Juventus and Barcelona has had to be called off. An initial attempt was made to postpone the game, but it was impossible to reschedule.

Barca allegedly tried to reschedule the game for Sunday evening, but the affected players’ physical state means that a match “cannot be prepared under those conditions”.

The sickness-ravaged squad is on a tight schedule which saw them planning to play a total of four – now three – friendlies over an 11-day period.

Relatively speaking, though, Barca won’t travel that far for their next game compared to the vast distances between the American cities often picked for these tours.

On Wednesday, Barca will take on PremierPINC -1% League giants Arsenal at the Los Angeles Chargers’ SoFi Stadium some 350 miles south of Santa Clara in Inglewood.

After that, though, Xavi Hernandez’s men meet bitter rivals Real Madrid in another Stateside edition of El Clasico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for which they must venture 1,400 miles east.

The match was due to kick off Barcelona’s first game as part of their pre-season tour in the U.S. ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Xavi’s squad are next due to play Arsenal on July 27, followed by matches against rivals Real Madrid and Serie A outfit AC Milan.

They then face Tottenham Hotspur next month at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys before their first La Liga match of the new campaign against Getafe on August 13.
